Pablo Polanco

Cello, Dominican Republic

Outstanding Dominican cellist graduated from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and the National Conservatory of Music of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Polanco is currently Co-principal of the cello section of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic with whom he has successfully debuted as a soloist. With a strong international preparation, he has awarded scholarships by the Youth Orchestra of the Americas (Washington), the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau (France), the Festival of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Americas FOSJA (Puerto Rico), the Orford Arts Center of Canada, and the Summer Courses of Santander in Spain. He is currently cello professor at the Elementary Music School Elila Mena, member of the Orbe Quartet, the Cello Power, the Trio Dominicano, Music Director of Batuta Group, and President of Polanco Sound. He was awarded gold medal at the Dominican Republic’s National Competitions of Musical Interpretation and awarded honorable mention at the FOSJA of Puerto Rico. Later in his career he performed in Carnegie Hall as member of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas (YOA), and in 2014 he joined the international faculty of the Alfredo De Saint Malo Festival of Panama, honor that fulfills instructing young cellists of Panama and Latin America. In 2016 he will join for the second time the Camerata Alfredo De Saint Malo.
