The Camerata Alfredo De Saint Malo (ASM) is a project organized by the Sinfonia Concertante Foundation of Panama (FUNSINCOPA). ASM invites professional musicians from Panama and abroad as well as advanced students to study and perform repertoire for chamber orchestra. The Camerata ASM’s mission is to bring chamber music to audiences in Panama while serving a pedagogical mission. The meticulously chosen members of the Camerata possess cheerful and charismatic personalties often interacting with the audience. This interaction is a key component of the Camerata that attempts to break down the distance that scholarship has created in the presentation of Classical music.
Members of the Camerata ASM 2016 include leaders of the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) of Bogota, NSO of Costa Rica, NSO of Mexico, NSO of Panama, NSO of the Dominican Republic, NSO of Montevideo (Uruguay), Philharmonic of Buenos Aires ‘Teatro Colon’ (Argentina), Bremer Philharmonic Orchestra (Germany), and the Symphony Orchestra of Cordoba (Argentina).
The first meeting of the Camerata Alfredo De Saint Malo was held on December 2008. This meeting of June 2016 is its eighth reunion.
Funds collected by the Camerata Alfredo De Saint Malo are intended to cover the costs of the tours of the Camerata and mainly towards the social works of FUNSINCOPA and its project the Red de Filarmónicas Infantiles y Juveniles de Panamá (Network of Children and Youth Philharmonics of Panama).
